Partners in Loot

BP and the British Museum Past, Present and Future

What does the British Museum have in common with BP?

Much more than their decades long partnership and the revolving door of museum board members and oil executives

Our zine investigates the two institutions’ shared history of colonial plunder, and their present partnership in service of imperialist genocide and ecological destruction. Long before BP was exploiting oil fields in the Middle East, the British Museum was sending its officers on ‘collecting’ trips with the British Empire’s troops carrying out invasions in Africa. The BP-British Museum partnership is natural, which makes resisting both, at once, all the more necessary. For cultural workers as well as all those in the Palestine and climate movement.

The zine puts forward our case for the complete transformation of the British Museum, starting with the £50 million BP partnership.
